Stadtmarketing Halle (Saale) GmbH (SMG) is majority-owned by the City of Halle on the Saale. The other 45% of the company is owned by private companies and the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg (5%), whose bundled interests are represented by Stadtmarketing and who carry a substantial share of the company’s financing. The Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg and the City of Halle on the Saale join forces in welcoming its many newcomers who move to this city each year to study. Since 2009, the “Uni Halle” is the first university in Germany to co-partner in a city marketing company. Through the Long Night of Science, the Higher Education Information Day (HIT) and the Welcome Day, students and citizens can get a new perspective on research and education here. The University in Halle can look back on an internationally renowned and interdisciplinary, interconnected research tradition of more than 500 years.
Working together with its commercial members, the association follows an integrated approach to the promotion of the Halle (Saale) location. This is done by stimulating general awareness and advertising of the business location; supporting the marketing of economic and touristic potential; and promoting advertising in Halle (Saale) and its vicinity with the aim of improving the population's identification with their own town.
Citygemeinschaft Halle e. V. (city community) has set itself the goal of visibly contributing to the city of Halle's increasing attractiveness, and to creating and maintaining a livable town centre. The purpose is to bundle the interests of the commercial and business establishments and collaborate with all businesses and institutions in the city of Halle (Saale). For example, the Citygemeinschaft coordinates shopping sundays and organizes events that invigorate the feel of the city, including special markets, City-Klassik, raising the Maypole, Festival of Lights, City Beach and the Halle Winter Market.
By bundling the activities of its members, the Förderverein Region Halle (Saale) e.V. raises awareness and builds the city's image building, thereby strengthens the reputation of the location Halle (Saale) and its region. This is done by marketing/advertising and public relations, which demonstrate the diversity of the region’s scientific, cultural, social and environmental potential, which has a positive effect on the promotion of tourism and the organization of events.
